Big Lonesome Radio

Like most epic adventures, Big Lonesome Radio is a journey measured in both time and distance. It runs the full length of Appalachia from Cape Breton to New England and south to Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee. From there the road turns west eventually passing through Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma. The final arc sweeps through the high desert of California before reaching home in the Pacific Northwest.

It’s a coast to coast and decade to decade journey. Along the way we sample the roots of bluegrass and country music before waltzing with their progeny: newgrass, alt-country, and Americana. In the company of Bill Monroe and Billy Strings, Mother Maybelle and Neko Case, Hank Williams and Jason Isbell, we’ll walk the streets of Baltimore and Bakersfield with honky-tonk angels and the sweetheart of the rodeo.

Join your host, Doc Walton, every Wednesday from 4-5 PM as we broadcast live from the Jean Bosch Studio and the Voice of Vashon, or as we call it at Big Lonesome Radio, Little Friendly Radio.
