Concerts in the Parks Returns!

July 28th, 2023 by Jeff Hoyt

Ever since the pandemic there’s been a certain lingering uncertainty in our lives, but it’s good to know that something you weren’t sure was going to happen this summer is, in fact, going to happen. Talking about Vashon’s crowning summer event, the Concerts in the Park program, free, every Thursday during the month of August in the cool, welcoming green of Ober Park. It’s two hours of terrific sounds from 7 to 9PM, so bring dinner, bring the family, bring chairs, blankets – you know the drill. As for the music, this year each Thursday will bring a whole different genre of music: World Music with Publish the Quest; rock with the Ian Moore Band; groove-heavy Mexican folk with Locarno; tribute rock with Bowie/Rex & his Boogie Army and West African with Djeliyah. The sound and lighting will be in the capable hands of Bandstand Music’s Laird Gonter and Fefeyear Master Mix’s Martin Feveyear. It’s all cool. Just a reminder, though, no dogs, alcohol or smoking are allowed at Ober Park. So, bring it, Baby, ‘cause it’ll happen whether you’re there or not. The whole month of August every Thursday. See you there. This has been a Voice of Vashon Public Service Announcement, Sounds on the Grounds Department.
