VARSA screening!

January 19th, 2024 by Jeff Hoyt

Join VARSA for a free community screening of Screenagers: Under the Influence, a comprehensive and engaging look at the impact of alcohol, marijuana, vaping, and substances on adolescent health in the digital age. This is not an alarmist “Phones Are Bad” film. Instead, it provides insight into what is available to teens online and the way digital media impacts teens’ decision making in regards to drugs, alcohol and vaping. This one-hour film is packed with up-to-date information that is accurate and comes from authoritative sources. Young people today have more access to information than any previous generation. This can have an impact on them finding their place in the world, their relationships, and their physical and mental health. Screenagers is a documentary that puts you in their shoes. The film provides information that is at the crossroads of media consumption and youth substance use awareness in this ever-changing world of new media. All community members are invited and give parents and anyone who works with youth insight into the world their young people are encountering. “Screenagers: Under the Influence” will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A with VARSA’s Suzan McMann and Peggy Rubens-Ellis, PSESD’s Mandi Wilcox, and others. Please join VARSA at the Vashon Theatre on February 6 from 6-8 pm. This is a free event, part of the GreenTech Nights at the Vashon Theatre, so no tickets are necessary for this event. For more information check out The VARSA Network on Facebook.
