Hosts:  Sally Jean Fox

February 21, 2025

Show Notes

Elaine Summers is a musician, mosaic artist, and animal welfare activist. We discuss her multifaceted creative life and her successful collaboration with her husband, singer-songwriter Pete Droge.

Elaine’s musical career began at 20 when she performed as a lead singer in San Diego clubs. She later moved to Los Angeles and then to Portland, where she met her future husband and musical collaborator, Pete Droge. Throughout the ’90s, Elaine toured with Pete as a backup singer, playing acoustic guitar and percussion on several major label records and tours.

Their musical partnership remains strong. After a 10-year hiatus—partly due to Pete’s struggles with chronic fatigue syndrome—the couple is set to return to touring this year.

In 1999, Elaine discovered her love for mosaics, a passion that continues to this day.

Her deep love of animals led her to Vashon Island Pet Protectors, where she has volunteered since 2002. She has served as Vice President of the organization and is currently helping organize its annual fundraiser, The Fur Ball.

Elaine and Pete have lived on Vashon Island since 1995.
