Who can resist the lilting voice and extraordinary talent of singer-songwriter and Voice of Vashon show host Kat Eggleston? In this interview, we go behind the scenes to discover how she has kept her creative spirit in full song for more than four decades.
Kat Eggleston is a singer, guitarist, songwriter, and playwright who has performed and taught internationally for over forty years. She has released numerous solo and collaborative recordings of both original and traditional music, reaching audiences around the world.
Based in Chicago for many years, Kat toured extensively across the U.S., Europe, and Australia, appearing at major concert venues and festivals. She appeared onstage at the Steppenwolf Garage Space, Chicago’s Briar Street Theatre in Woody Guthrie’s American Song, Chicago Children’s Theatre, and the historic Victory Gardens Theatre in the acclaimed Snow Queen where she performed alongside its composer, Michael P. Smith, known for classics such as Spoon River and The Dutchman.
Kat has also composed original music for Vashon Repertory Theatre’s productions of Kissing the Joy as it Flies: The Wit and Wisdom of Brian Doyle and Oscar’s Journey. Her moving play The Cyclone Line, inspired by her family’s history during the Dust Bowl, was widely praised when performed at Vashon Center for the Arts..
Now living on Vashon Island with her husband and one sub-standard poodle, Kat is currently at work on the script for her third play.
