Olga Zatsapilina emigrated to the US from war torn Ukraine in late 2023, and she came straight to Vashon Island. In fact, she is getting her impression of the United States from our Island, and she says she finds Americans to be ‘nicer than Europeans.’ Her story before she arrived on Vashon took her around Europe and back to her home in Kharkiv, Ukraine, where she hopes to return in two years with new skills to help the people in her home country.
