In September 2025, Vashon Center for the Arts will present an exhibition featuring the work of artists who have participated in the Vashon Artist Residency. This juried show invited applicants to share pieces shaped by their time on Vashon.
Four of the exhibiting artists, along with Residency founder Cathy Sarkowsky, join host Sally Fox for a conversation about their work and the transformative power of the residency experience.
About the Vashon Artist Residence
Founded by visual artist Cathy Sarkowsky in 2021 the Vashon Artist Residency was created from her desire to support artists in developing new work. It offer a space that nurtures exploration—of practices and relationships as well as an opportunity to recharge physically, spiritually, and creatively.
Each year, they host more than 40 artists in small cohorts throughout the year, with 2 and 4 week sessions. Artists of all backgrounds, identities, and disciplines, including those of diverse races, gender identities, sexual orientations and geographic origins, are welcome.
