Mik Kuhlman, Vashon’s multi-talented veteran performer, returns to the Vashon Repertory Theatre stage September 10–13 in Heidi Schreck’s What the Constitution Means to Me.

Join Sally and Mik for a conversation about the timeliness and enduring relevance of this Pulitzer Prize–nominated play. They also explore Mik’s remarkably creative career—and the rewards and challenges of making a life as a working actor.

Drawing inspiration from the intersections of theatre, circus, dance, and improvisation, Mik creates dynamic solo and ensemble theatre, live street-art events, and international artistic collaborations. Based on Vashon, she has worked as a performing and teaching artist, theatre-maker, and producer in Seattle, Paris, and New York City, with additional artistic residencies throughout Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Her works include SPLIT SECOND; SHADOWS: A Live Art Installation; HOUSE #30; COVID RESPONSE SERIES; THE STANDING NATION: Remembering Our Kinship with Trees; and THE CONVERSATION CAFE. Her longtime collaborators include visual and textile artist Patricia Toovey, choreographer Sally Sykes-Wylie, and creative consultant Meg McHutchison.

Through a lifetime of performing, teaching, travel, and international living, Mik has developed a keen awareness of human behavior and a deep love for the physical arts.
