Show Notes

After the last “No Kings” march, Steven Colbert called the huge Trump buffoon balloon made by Bill Jarcho and colleagues from the Backbone Campaign “the most impressive of all.” In this episode, we go behind the scenes of its creation and talk to Bill about his highly creative career.
Bill was a founding member of the Backbone Campaign with Bill Moyer 23 years ago. He’s been an animation director/creative director at Olive Jar Animation in Boston, creating shorts, station ID’s, commercials, and videos for Nickelodeon, MTV, ABC Saturday Morning TV, and Committee for Children. He directed episodes of Eddie Murphy’s animated series “The PJ’s” on Fox TV and created and performed giant puppets and puppet shows for Zambini Brothers. He has also written and illustrated two children’s books.

Bill has drawn cartoons for the Beachcomber and served as the director of The Conscious Cartoons International Animation Festival. His commercial and independent animated shorts have won numerous awards at Animation festivals throughout the world. On occasion, he’s been seen dressed as a WWI flying ace riding a giant duck.
He exhibits with the Valise Gallery on Vashon.
