Borderlines honors crossroads of musical boundaries as reggae influences migrate into other genres. With roots planted firmly in Jamaican reggae, expect roots reggae – the stuff that made Jamaica internationally famous, dancehall; hip hop and recent electronic dance music-reggae hybrids. It also explores reggae’s storied layers and early roots with “riddim” theme shows.
While attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Heidi hosted her radio show The Ladies of Dancehall heard across the Hawaiian Islands (KTUH 90.3 FM). She unearthed up-tempo dancehall gems recorded in Jamaica and points beyond. After graduation she continued subbing shows in reggae, ska, and psychobilly-surf formats. Twenty-plus years later, she brings her ever-evolving playlists to VOV. She also engineers for other producers and helps train new DJs in production and post.
A Vashon Island resident since 2004, Heidi is a career copywriter now who advises in real estate at Windermere Vashon. Outside, you’ll likely find Heidi swimming the Island coast, relay-swimming globally across notorious channels, gardening, or petting cats.
