VASHON ISLAND FLOOD WATCH 2025-12-06
COMMUNITY ADVISORY
A Flood Watch is in effect from late Sunday night through Friday afternoon as an atmospheric river moves through the region. What this means for Vashon:
Heavy rain is expected through the week. Localized flooding is expected in low lying areas and places with poor drainage. Creek and ditch levels may rise quickly, especially on rural roads and driveways. Saturated soils increase landslide risk, especially on known slide-prone slopes. Road conditions may deteriorate — standing water, debris, and reduced visibility are possible. Take time to check gutters, drains, culverts and anything on your property that could be impacted by excess runoff.
DIY Sandbags are Available: Vashon Island Fire & Rescue maintains a DIY sandbag site next to the Penny Farcy Training Center at 10019 SW Bank Rd. Residents may fill and take bags to prepare for potential flooding.
