Episode # 13
The Battle of Lexington and Concord was the first major engagement between British troops and colonial militias. The context is the passage of the Tea Act (1773), the Boston Tea Party (1773), the resulting Intolerable Acts (1774) , and the British attempt to disarm the colonists opposing them by capturing colonial military supplies stored at Concord. The “midnight ride of Paul Revere” to warn “the British Are Coming”, and the “shot heard round the war” at Old North Bridge are a central part of American mythology about the Revolution.
