This is a series about Vashon Island from the 1700’s to today in honor of our nation’s 250th year.

Hosts Jon Flora and Bruce Haulman focus on what was happening on Vashon over that time span on each week’s episode.

The events beginning with The Stamp Act in 1765 leading up to The Declaration of Independence in 1776 and the ratification of the Constitution and election of George Washington as the first President in 1789 provide the Revolution boundaries of this series. Each week we will explore an event or issue that developed during that era and tie that event/issue to future similar events/issues in the larger sweep of American history between 1789 and the 2000s , and then to tie that issue/event to the issues and events we as Americans confront today in the 3rd decade of the 21st century, and finally link these all to issues and events in Vashon’s history.

Our intent is to provide a story that links us all back to the Revolutionary beginning of our country by exploring how the issues and events of that era, have always been a part of our history, are part of the history we are making today, and that Vashon has experienced it all in its own distinct and local way
