Episode # 21 – The Declaration of Independence – July 2 & 4, 1776

The Declaration of Independence is the founding document of our country. Thomas Jefferson described it as “the genuine effusion of the soul of our country.” Historian  Nancy Bristow joins Vashon250 to discuss the importance of the Declaration as a truly revolutionary document. This episode will also discuss some examples of Vashon independence like the 4^th of July Hydro Races and the numerous failed attempts by Vashon to become independent from King County.
