Aiyano Jones ~ Vashon Remembrance Project

Curry in a Hurry and the Emotional Rescue was conceived by Gregg Curry, Debra Heesch and Emily Burns as a response to the murder of George Floyd and in support of the Black Lives Matter Movement.  As white allies we wanted to better understand allyship and identify resources to deal with the collective trauma.  In our first three shows, we helped to raise over $5,400 for the Northwest Community Bail Fund, NAACP Legal and Education Fund, and Vashon High School Students of Color Scholarship fund.  We showcase black and brown artists, provide commentary on the BLM and actions across the country, identify resources for understanding race relations and the struggle of black people in America, and storytelling.
