Lots of Islanders have accounts with the Department of Social and Health Services for one or more of their benefits and the Department, historically, does a pretty good job of administering them; and one way of doing that is to dispatch the Department’s Mobilc Office – the Department on wheels – straight to the neighborhood under review; in other words, the bureaucracy comes to the Island with representatives who can sign you up for Department Programs: health insurance, assistance with food or cash, complete a review or request an EBT card or sign up for the reduced public transportation fees of Orca lift. The DSHS van will be on the Island, parked at the Food Bank on Wednesday, September 11 from 10AM till 2PM for your convenience. Hey, it’s called “outreach”, but “outreach” cuts two ways.
