Focus On! 2020 is all about Vashon-Maury Island resources and resiliency, both natural and human. When our lives are turned upside down by an unexpected event that replaces normality with uncertainty, where will we go for water or food? Who among us has the skills to solve unique and unexpected challenges? Where are we more, or less, at risk than we might think? Where are we stronger? Through the hard work of devoted volunteers and professionals, our island is fairly well prepared for an emergency, but Puerto Rico showed us that the world beyond our beaches may not come to the rescue as quickly as we would hope. Join me, as I explore our own, local resources to which we can turn.
