Local voices. Creative lives. Unique paths.
Inspiration for creative living.

Sally Jean Fox is  a Vashon author, artist, and veteran coach who believes that creativity isn’t a talent reserved for a few—it’s a birthright we all carry, waiting to be explored and expressed. On Embracing the Muse, she explores how creative expression—through writing, art, conversation, and service—can open the door to a more meaningful life, especially in challenging times.

After decades as a consultant, coach, and university professor, Sally felt called into a deeper relationship with creativity and spirit. That journey became her book, Meeting the Muse After Midlife: A Journey to Meaning, Creativity and Joy, where she writes candidly about loss, renewal, and the unexpected ways creativity can guide us into the next chapter of our lives. As she often says, “Your life is your most creative work.”

On Voice of Vashon, Sally hosts thoughtful conversations with Vashon Island artists, writers, and culture-makers, reflecting the creative life of the island while weaving in insights from her own lived experience. She invites listeners—near and far—to reconnect with their sense of purpose and creative spark.

Sally writes weekly on Substack at Sally Jean Fox: Embracing the Muse sallyfox.substack.com
