Vashon Island Fire & Rescue (vifr.org/) holds its annual open house tomorrow morning from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon at the main fire station on Bank Road, just west of town. Pancakes and coffee. Sparky the Fire Dog. Bouncy fire station. Fire truck tours. Exhibits on fire prevention. Meet the Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) Team (vifr.org/mih) and learn more about no-cost in-home medical services. The open house is free and aimed at family fun.

VashonBePrepared will be there as well. You can learn how to make a go bag, a car kit, and a household emergency cache. Tomorrow’s open house will be a convenient opportunity to sign up for a neighborhood get-together so you can form or revive a Neighborhood Emergency Response Organization (NERO). Over 270 Vashon neighborhoods have assembled into NEROs so far – and counting.
