Jeff Hoyt continues his mining expedition for great stories as he sits down with yet another island rock star. After moving to Vashon a few years back, Isaac Slade left his multi-Grammy nominated rock band The Fray to open Side Stack Records, right next to VoV’s downtown studio. Like many rising rock stars, Isaac got to meet many of his idols along the way. He tells of getting hang time with Bruce Springsteen and recording one of EmmyLou Harris’ songs (with EmmyLou herself!). Isaac grew up in a church-going family and religion played a central role in shaping his young creative life. You’ll hear some of these stories, along with the songs that were inspired by them.
