The popular Island summer miracle known as the Mukai Studio Ghibli Festival, featuring five award-winning Japanese anime classic films, is only getting started at the Vashon Theatre. We’re sorry if you missed the first one – Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind – last week, but, there are still four to go and the next one, Castle in the Sky, will screen at 7PM on Tuesday, July 9. In this eye-catching extravaganza a young boy and girl with a magic crystal must race against pirates and foreign agents in a search for a legendary, floating castle. All the films are free to the public with a suggested five-dollar donation at the door, so you know, in a setup like this, best get there early if don’t want popcorn to be film time.
