What Do We Need As A Community?

August 4th, 2023 by Jeff Hoyt

This is something that the King County Department of Local Services does every two or three years: and that is to reach out to the unincorporated areas – like Vashon – to see if there are folks there who might have ideas about what would make their communities better places to live. Once informed , the Department will then work with communities to make a Community Needs List – a list of desired services, programs, facilities and capital improvements – for each area. King County will then use these lists to help make budget decisions next year. So does this strike a spark in the old noggin? You’ve been trying to get someone’s attention over there for years about mother-in-law cabins. Or whatever. Yeah? Then here’s how you start. Pick up the phone and call 206 -477-3800, 206-477-3800 and tell the representative who you are and you have this idea, and the representative will take it from there. Or you can go online to publicinput.com/communityneeds. Got that? Publicinput.com/communityneeds. And you’ve taken the big first step to see your idea become reality. You’ve got until August 25th to act and then the window closes. So, do it, you know? What the hell .This has been a Voice of Vashon Public Service Announcement, Making the Bureaucracy Work for You Department.
