Yoga @ Mukai from DOVE Project

June 14th, 2024 by Jeffrey L Hoyt

In a move that seems a natural development in the Dove Project’s Community Services story, the group is now announcing the availability of free outdoor trauma-informed yoga classes at the Mukai Farm and Gardens for the entire community. These classes are perhaps different from other forms of yoga you’ve encountered in that they are intended to service a currently incarcerated pre-traumatized population and conducted by instructors who have all conducted Yoga Behind Bars in the Pacific Northwest. The classes are on four successive Saturdays – June 22, June 29, July 6 and July 13th from 9 to 10AM, outdoors, on the grass at Mukai, and anyone can come to any or all of them. The instructors will be facilitating trauma-informed self-settling and self-regulating techniques including yoga, breathwork, seated and movement meditation. All are welcome as are all abilities; no experience necessary. Some mats and props available to borrow, but do bring your own if you have them. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle if possible. Classes are all free, but registration is required and may be achieved at www.vashondoveproject.org/events.
